Description

This course is designed for students who wish to improve their Spanish language skills and deepen their knowledge in a specific environment of the proposed paths. The oral and written skills gained in Language class will thoroughly prepare students to obtain the DELE diploma in Spanish as a foreign language.

The programe consists of a 170-hour GENERAL MODULE OF SPANISH and an 85-hour SPECIFIC MODULE covering the language fields in different areas and sectors. Participants can choose the itinerary that best suits their preferences.

The five proposed routes are:

1.     Track of Arts(History, Literature and Art)
2.     Track of Language Plus
3.     Track of Spanish for Business
4.     Track of Healthcare
5.     Methodology in Language Teaching

The different modules are taught in an integrated way throughout the spring course. Participants can choose the specific module that best suits their study profile or career path. Each specific module consisting of 85 hours. 

The five programmes/paths proposed are as follows:

SPECIFIC TRACKS

TRACK 1 – ARTS AND HUMANITIES

This program combines a core module in general communication skills, common to all tracks, with a specialized module on Art, History, and Literature in the Hispanic World.

TRACK 2 – SPANISH PLUS

This program combines the core module in general communication skills, common to all tracks, with a specialized module focused on Advanced Language Skills in Spanish.

TRACK 3 – SPANISH FOR BUSINESS

This program combines the core module in general communication skills, common to all tracks, with a specialized module on Spanish for Business.

TRACK 4 – SPANISH FOR HEALTHCARE

This program combines the core module in general communication skills, common to all tracks, with a specialized module on Spanish for Healthcare Professionals.

TRACK 5 – TEACHING METHODOLOGY FOR SPANISH LANGUAGE

This program combines the core module in general communication skills, common to all tracks, with a specialized module on Teaching Methodology for Spanish as a Foreign Language.

DESCRIPTION OF CONTENTS  

Spring Semester – Modular Course from January to May 2026  

The course includes a general module in Spanish language and culture consisting of 170 hours, and an optional specialized module. Participants may choose from five different tracks, each totaling 85 hours. The full course comprises a total of 255 class hours.

DESCRIPTION

This course is designed for students who wish to learn Spanish and improve their skills in the language while immersing themselves in Spanish culture. Through interactive activities, students will learn grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation, while developing their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, gaining confidence and fluency in the language. The course accommodates different levels, from beginners to advanced.

In addition, it includes a cultural focus through authentic materials such as films and songs, aiming not only to teach the language but also to foster intercultural understanding. This will enable students to interact with respect and empathy in a diverse world, acquiring not only linguistic skills but also a broader vision of the cultural diversity of the Spanish-speaking world.

OBJECTIVES

The main objective of this Spanish Language and Culture course is to develop students’ linguistic competencies, enabling them to communicate effectively in a wide range of everyday situations. Through language learning, the course also seeks to deepen students’ understanding of the customs, traditions, and values of Spanish-speaking societies, fostering an appreciation for cultural diversity and the enhancement of intercultural competence. Additionally, it aims to provide a dynamic environment for social interaction, where students can collaboratively practice the language while engaging with authentic materials that capture the richness and diversity of Hispanic culture.

METHODOLOGY

 The methodology of this Spanish language and culture course is based on a communicative and contextualized approach, which aims not only to teach the language but also to immerse students in the country’s culture. Classes are structured around interactive activities encouraging active student participation, such as role plays, debates, and group projects.

Authentic materials, such as press articles, films, and songs, are used to familiarize students with the actual use of language in different cultural contexts. In addition, aspects of local culture—traditions, customs, and gastronomy—are incorporated to enrich the learning experience. 

SPECiFIC TRACKS

 Up to five different modules are offered, each consisting of 85 hours. Students may select the track that best suits their goals or academic profile. Each module is described below.  

Humanities Track

HISTORY, LITERATURE AND ART IN THE HISPANIC WORLD

DESCRIPTION

This course enables students to advance their Spanish language proficiency through the study of cultural content focused on the history, literature, and art of Spain and Latin America. Conducted in a Castilian city of exceptional historical and artistic significance, the course also includes the exploration of local cultural and artistic expressions connected to wine production, the traditions of Castilian Holy Week, and the historical presence of the Habsburg Court during the seventeenth century.

OBJECTIVES

To improve language comprehension and enrich cultural knowledge by promoting a critical and appreciative understanding of Spain’s historical, literary, and artistic heritage.

The course uses interactive activities, text analysis, virtual museum visits, and group debates, encouraging the use of Spanish in a cultural context. Students develop language skills while exploring Spain’s cultural legacy.

Spanish Plus + Track

SPANISH LANGUAGE SKILLS

DESCRIPTION

This course aims to help students advance their language competence and actively apply the knowledge they have acquired in authentic communication situations. It is designed for learners whose main interest is achieving both intensive and extensive progress in mastering the target language.

Objectives

The goal of this Spanish course is to provide students with extra opportunities to deepen their language skills through intensive practice. Participants will focus on improving fluency and listening comprehension, as well as enriching their vocabulary and grammar through interactive and dynamic activities. Confidence in communicating in Spanish in diverse everyday situations will also be fostered, promoting a collaborative and motivating learning environment. The course is intended for learners who wish to complement their training and reach a higher level in using the language.

Contents

This Spanish course is designed to give students an intensive and focused opportunity to practice the language. Contents include conversation activities to boost fluency and confidence in speaking, listening exercises aimed at improving comprehension through authentic dialogues and audio, and thematic vocabulary sessions on everyday situations such as shopping, travel, and health. Basic grammar points are reviewed to consolidate correct language use, and games plus interactive activities are incorporated to make learning more engaging and enjoyable. The course is ideal for those seeking to strengthen their skills in a collaborative and motivational environment.

 Methodology

 A communicative and participatory approach is used, targeting students who wish to have more practice and in-depth exposure to the language. Classes focus on interactive activities that encourage conversation and practical use of Spanish in real-life contexts. Various resources are used, such as role-plays, debates, and group work, allowing students to develop language skills dynamically. Authentic materials including videos, articles, and songs enhance the learning experience and motivate students to express themselves with confidence and fluency. Continuous feedback and emphasis on oral practice are fundamental aspects of the method, ensuring each student can progress at their own pace and achieve their language objectives.

3.- ITINERARIO DE NEGOCIOS:  ESPAÑOL PARA LOS NEGOCIOS (85 sesiones)

DESCRIPCIÓN
La importancia del español en las relaciones comerciales en el mundo actual es creciente y, de ahí, la necesidad de ofrecer este curso a todos aquellos estudiantes o profesionales con interés en el mundo empresarial y la economía de habla hispana. Se pone énfasis en ofrecer un panorama internacional, aunque se concede una especial atención a España y a su contexto económico: la Unión Europea y otras organizaciones internacionales de la que es miembro o socio.

OBJETIVOS
Debido a las características del español para fines específicos, el alumno adquirirá el vocabulario y los recursos lingüísticos necesarios para desenvolverse en este ámbito profesional, y también se familiarizará con sus convenciones y valores. Se presta especial atención a situaciones actuales y a la información que se recibe a través de los medios de comunicación para que el alumno pueda comprender y participar activamente en este contexto.    

CONTENIDOS (* Ver programación más detallada)
El curso presenta un ambicioso programa de contenidos que pretende contextualizar el uso de vocabulario específico, los recursos lingüísticos necesarios para hacer frente a situaciones comunicativas parecidas a las reales como cartas de presentación y currículo, o entrevistas de trabajo. También pretende abarcar la actividad comercial de una empresa, como pueden ser tipos de empresa, su estructura interna, actividades de importación-exportación o la participación en ferias o presentaciones.
Además, se expone al alumno a temas bancarios y financieros de manera más concisa, y a la presencia de España y de otros países de habla hispana en organizaciones internacionales.

METODOLOGÍA
Los temas serán presentados haciendo uso de diversos tipos de material didáctico, desarrollándose el programa desde una perspectiva comunicativa -con actividades de comprensión y expresión e interacción oral y escrita-, y dentro del marco intercultural propio del aula de EFE.

El profesor expondrá y contextualizará la materia por medio de presentaciones, ejercicios prácticos (individuales y grupales) provenientes de manuales y documentos auténticos extraídos de los medios de comunicación. Igualmente, se trabajará sobre noticias de actualidad relacionadas con la materia. Todos estos recursos permitirán al alumno ir realizando tareas cada vez más complejas que le permitan integrar las destrezas comunicativas y activar el vocabulario aprendido.
Se prestará atención a situaciones laborales reales de empresa en el ámbito Hispano, a fin de potenciar la competencia intercultural en los estudiantes, así como su capacidad para desenvolverse en un determinado espacio profesional de la empresa.

4.- ITINERARIO DE SALUD: ESPAÑOL PARA LA SALUD (85 sesiones)

DESCRIPCIÓN
Este curso está dirigido a aprendices de español con un nivel B1 o superior que necesiten desenvolverse en esta lengua en el ámbito sanitario debido a su desempeño profesional en un contexto hispanohablante o por ser estudiantes de grado y posgrado de carreras relacionadas con la sanidad.

OBJETIVOS
El curso de español para la salud tiene como objetivo principal capacitar a los profesionales de la salud en el uso del idioma español, facilitando la comunicación efectiva con pacientes hispanohablantes. A través de este curso, los participantes aprenderán vocabulario específico relacionado con la salud, así como frases y expresiones útiles para realizar entrevistas, brindar información y ofrecer apoyo emocional. Además, se busca fomentar la comprensión cultural y las sensibilidades de la comunidad hispanohablante, lo que permitirá a los profesionales ofrecer una atención más inclusiva y empática. En resumen, el curso pretende mejorar la calidad de la atención médica a través de una comunicación clara y efectiva en español.

CONTENIDOS
Para alcanzar los objetivos del curso, el alumnado debe trabajar no sólo el vocabulario propio de este campo sino también interactuar de manera flexible y fluida tanto con un paciente al, por ejemplo, explicar un diagnóstico o recomendar hábitos de vida saludable, como con otro profesional en una emergencia, consulta o charla.
En este curso se trabajan textos escritos para extraer vocabulario e ideas relevantes, útiles para su desempeño profesional presente o futuro. En la producción oral y escrita se trabaja la corrección y variedad de los recursos lingüísticos para que en situaciones críticas pueda desempeñar su labor profesional con acierto como en la elaboración de informes clínicos.

METODOLOGÍA
Se desarrollarán actividades, tareas y situaciones reales con un enfoque comunicativo y un método por tareas, donde se propondrán situaciones de la vida real en relación con la salud. Se tendrá especialmente en cuenta el aprendizaje de terminología específica, en contextos reales de uso y prestando especial atención a los elementos socioculturales
En este curso se trabaja con material didáctico de español para el ámbito sanitario complementado con audios, vídeos y artículos especializados y de divulgación que ampliarán la información del material. Las clases son dinámicas, con diferentes actividades comunicativas (simulaciones, análisis de casos clínicos, proyectos, etc.) para que el estudiante pueda practicar todas las destrezas y utilizar los recursos léxicos, gramaticales y funcionales necesarios para mantener dicha comunicación.

5.- ITINERARIO DE DIDÁCICA Y METODOLOGÍA DEL ESPAÑOL: ENSEÑANZA-APRENDIZAJE DEL ESPAÑOL L2 (85 sesiones)

DESCRIPCIÓN
Dirigido a profesores de Español en activo o en formación, interesados en trabajar, reflexionar y profundizar en aspectos tanto lingüísticos como culturales del curriculum de E/LE, según el Marco común europeo de referencia. El curso está concebido como espacio de aprendizaje activo en el que los alumnos participen e interactúen y donde tanto los contenidos trabajados, como la propia dinámica de las clases favorezcan la adquisición y el desarrollo de estrategias y recursos que puedan incorporar a su práctica docente.  

OBJETIVOS
-    Conocer el diseño curricular de E/LE del Instituto Cervantes.
-    Dar a conocer diferentes factores en el desarrollo profesional docente, así como vías de formación continua.
-    Reconocer los aspectos más importantes del enfoque comunicativo, diferenciando entre actividades lingüísticas y comunicativas.
-    Analizar el componente sociocultural e incorporar la dimensión intercultural y la mediación lingüística en la enseñanza de la E/LE.
-    Indagar en la planificación de secuencias didácticas y en la innovación educativa para la enseñanza de E/LE.
-    Usar la creatividad y la literatura como recurso didáctico para la enseñanza de E/LE.
-    Hacer un uso adecuado del tratamiento del error.

METODOLOGÍA
Todas las áreas temáticas se trabajan de una manera eminentemente práctica y buscando su aplicación al aula. Como forma de lograrlo, el debate y la exposición de los temas son clave para el fomento de la participación.
La metodología se llevará  a cabo mediante lecciones expositivas de los contenidos de cada tema apoyadas con presentaciones, debates, opiniones, clases prácticas para el análisis y puesta en común de los textos leídos, simulaciones de actividades y diferentes entornos de trabajo: aula y biblioteca

First day of the course: On the first day of the course, students take a written placement test (lasting one hour), and are given an orientation session which includes a guided tour of the city.

Assessment and certificate: Continuous assessment is implemented throughout the program. The curriculum is structured into five thematic modules; each delivered over a four-week period. Upon completion of each module, students are required to undertake a formal evaluation designed to measure their progress and achievement.

At the end of the course, students are awarded a certificate of attendance. In order to be awarded the certificate of attendance, students must attend at least 80% of the lessons. In addition, if students pass the various tests set during the course, they will also be awarded a certificate of attainment listing the marks and grades obtained in each subject.

Note: The Language Center reserves the right to open the courses and levels if the minimum number of applicants is not reached.
